Hey, I'm Mike, a mobile app developer who took his first dive in 2019. I wasn't really sure if it was something for me, and thought it would just be a cool thing to do. I still remember that moment of the first inhale underwater. Like many of you, I instantly got it. We're underwater astronauts! OHHHH!!!
I originally inteded to only get my basic certification, but my dive center threw in free dives for each course (shoutout to Alton's Dive Center). And being on the beautiful island of Utila honduras, I filled up on as many courses as I could. I was hooked.
The only thing that I didn't like was the entire logging experience. Why were we writing notes on a paper logbook? When our primary activity is going into and out of the water? It was 2019, I thought there must be plenty of ways to do it on our phones.
Of course there were plenty of apps, but after trying one after the other, I realized that none of them were worth a damn. They were super clunky and were really frustrating to use. It became clear that most of these apps were either made by non-divers or those who didn't really care about good mobile app development.
I started making this app just for myself to be able to log dives simply. I wanted to also share all the photos and videos I took during the dives too. Over the years, I've made so many friends in this community and I always felt that being able to also keep up with people and see the cool, unheard of dive spots around the world was dearly misisng.
